Mexico City children return to school amid virus fears

Schools in Mexico City reopened Monday after the holiday break, despite fears of an increased number of infections caused by the omicron variant of the coronavirus. 

Not all states opened schools, with some preferring to wait until the 10th or the 17th of January to allow children back into the classrooms. The government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that in the first weeks of 2022, the booster vaccination will be carried out for teachers, administrative and educational support personnel.
