A meeting with applicants for animal healthcare service operation licenses, owners and operating veterinarians of established animal hospitals and clinics, was held in the morning of January 6 at the meeting hall of Office No. 36 in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, in his address, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, stated that this coordination meeting is held to ensure systematic operation and proper implementation according to procedures regarding animal hospitals and clinics. He mentioned that the ministry prioritizes animal disease prevention and control, and public health protection activities to develop the country's livestock production industry and promote the meat sector.

He noted that during the recent field inspections of hospitals and clinics, it was found that out of 83 clinics, 65 exclusively treat dogs and cats, while the remaining 18 only treat a few other types, including dogs, cats, and rabbits. Therefore, he urged that veterinarians should collaboratively and in a balanced manner serve both food-producing animals and pet animals. The Union Minister encouraged those operating veterinary services and veterinarians to cooperate with the department in applying the knowledge imparted by the state, and to work together harmoniously to develop the state's meat sector.

Following this, officials from the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department explained the procedures and processes related to animal healthcare services, and findings regarding the registration and application for licenses for animal hospitals and clinics. The Union Minister supplemented the discussion, stating that matters to be complied with by veterinarians, clinics, and hospitals will be handled through a 'One Stop Service' at the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department.

Subsequently, owners of animal hospitals and clinics, veterinarians, and other attendees engaged in discussions according to their respective sectors. Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Gyi provided a summary and discussion on the points raised, it’s reported.
