Meeting with Hluttaw Representatives: Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker met with Hluttaw Reps in Magway

The Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw, U Khin Yi, met Thursday morning with elected representatives of the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Region Hluttaw from Magway Region at the Bo Min Yaung Hall of the Magway Region Hluttaw.

During the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker stated that the current Hluttaws have emerged as a result of a successful election, where voters courageously expressed their true will amidst difficulties and hardships by casting their votes themselves. Therefore, he urged Hluttaw representatives to take seriously and fulfill the trust and expectations of the voters who elected them.

He noted that the primary duty of the Hluttaw is legislation, so during their term, they must more comprehensively amend, supplement, and enact new laws that promote national development and benefit the people. He further advised that the Hluttaw should assess current circumstances and work towards enacting new laws that enable the daily social and economic lives of the people to be secure and stable etc.

Afterwards, the elected Hluttaw representatives attending the meeting presented their needs regarding opening representative offices and the challenges in their constituencies. The Speaker of the Magway Region Hluttaw and responsible officials from the Magway Region Government provided clarifications and discussions, and the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker gave guidance on coordinating and addressing the matters raised.

Subsequently, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker met with the Region Hluttaw Speaker, Deputy Speaker, committee chairs, and secretary. During the meeting, the Region Hluttaw Speaker, Dr. Maung Maung Htay, clarified matters concerning the formation of committees within the Hluttaw as well as the duties and authorities of the committees. Based on these presentations, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker provided necessary guidance, it’s reported.
