







Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung met with Deputy Ministers, region and state government ministers for agriculture, livestock and irrigation, and Directors of Agriculture at the Agricultural Museum of Myay Padetha Garden in Bahan Township, Yangon Region, on the afternoon of May 19.
During the meeting, the Union Minister discussed and directed the need to enhance the agriculture and livestock sector, emphasizing efforts to achieve regional food sufficiency and boost the export sector. He stressed the importance of accurate statistics regarding cultivated acreage, yield, and production of 14 major crops; strict oversight to ensure loans for Rice Export Zones are effectively utilized as cultivation costs; the ministry’s ongoing research to ensure Sein Ta Lone mangoes are available in the market all year round, while encouraging the cultivation of mango varieties suited to local soil, water, and climate conditions; and expanding the rearing of local cattle, dairy cattle, laying hens, broiler chickens, and ducks based on regional water, land, and climate conditions.
Similarly, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Ye Tint Tun and Deputy Minister for Commerce U Min Min met with responsible officials from the Myanmar Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association, the Myanmar Durian Producers and Exporters Association, and specialized agricultural entrepreneurs to discuss ongoing and future activities related to crop production and export, as well as sector needs.
