




Regarding the export sector, from April to September 2022, more than 200,000 tons of marine products worth 346.685 million USD were exported via sea routes and border gates.
Tanintharyi region, Ayeyawaddy region and Rakhine state are the main spots which exported the most marine products to abroad.
Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries, Ni Ni Aung, said " Myanmar’s marine products are being exported to more than 40 foreign countries through regular and border trade channels. As a normal trade route, it is exported by sea and air routes. And as a border trade route, it is exported to Thailand via Myawaddy-Maodong-HteeKhee-Myeik-Kawthoung route, to China via MuSe-Chin Shwe Haw route, then to India via Tamu and to Bangladesh via Sittwe-Maungdaw."
Currently, Chin Shwe Haw, HteeKhee and Tamu border gates are temporarily closed for exports.
Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries, Ni Ni Aung, said " In 2022-2023 fiscal year, fish exports via normal trade channels were over 57,000 metric tons worth of 80.487 million USD and shrimp exports were over 8,000 metric tons worth 28.245 million USD. As for other marine products exports, over 31,000 metric tons valued of 89.237 million USD were exported. The total amount of fish, shrimp and other exports via border gates was over 110,000 metric tons worth 148.746 million USD."
It is learnt that if marine products from Myanmar can be exported in accordance with the WTO FTF guidelines and food safety as well as based on needs of countries importing from Myanmar, the export amount will increase and the government will earn more taxes and employment opportunities will be gained for the locals.
