Philippine officials urged the public not to worry about food supply in Manila on Friday as crowds of people were at the supermarket stocking up.

The announcement came a day after the president said domestic travel to and from metropolitan Manila would be suspended for a month and authorized sweeping quarantines in the crowded capital to fight the new coronavirus. Domestic travel by land, air and sea to and from the capital region will be suspended starting Sunday. Cabinet Secretary said the transport of goods would continue and urged people not to "hoard" food and other supplies. Philippine health officials have confirmed 52 national cases of the virus, including five people who have died.
