Macron meets Trump at White House

US President Donald Trump met French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House on Monday. He said the US is nearing to an agreement with Ukraine in getting access to its rare earth minerals in exchange for defense aid. He added that it will be beneficial for both countries.

Trump also said Ukrainian President Zelenskyy may soon visit Washington to sign the agreement. Macron said France and the US share the objective of achieving peace. But he stressed that it's necessary to have "guarantees" to stabilize the situation.

He added that Europe and the US need to stay united. Macron also revealed that Europe is ready to take on more responsibility regarding Ukraine. He said countries, including Britain, are ready to send peacekeepers there after a ceasefire.
