Labour Affairs: 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting in Bangkok

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe attended the opening ceremony of the 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting in Bangkok of Thailand on August 26th.

Along with the Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe, Labour Ministers from ASEAN countries, high ranking officials and heads of International Labour Organization (ILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) were in attendance.

Prime Minister of Thailand Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul gave an opening speech. According to ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Work Programme (2026-2030), the meeting is held to submit approval on working plans, related labour meeting decisions and current labour working process of member states. In the afternoon, the Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe and officials met with the Laos Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Mr. Phongsaysack Inthalath.

They discussed timely issuance of Certificate of Identity (CI) to Myanmar migrant workers in Laos, legal remittance system, official allowance of trans boundary migrant workers and issuance of regional identification cards. They also cordially exchanged views on cooperation in regional development efforts.
