Weeks of nationwide protests and road blockades in Bolivia have choked supply lines to La Paz, forcing major public hospitals into a state of emergency. While the unrest involves labor unions and miners demanding higher wages and agrarian reforms, medical centers are actively rationing medicinal oxygen, postponing surgeries, and struggling to feed patients.

Additionally, outpatient care has dropped by up to 80% because patients from rural areas cannot reach the city. In response, authorities announced operations to secure "humanitarian corridors" aimed at pushing essential medical and food supplies into La Paz.
