Krishna Janmashtami Celebration: Successful Celebration at India Centre Yangon

The Krishna Janmashtami celebration was held at India Centre Yangon on Friday evening. The event with the presence of Ambassadors of India and Singapore and chiefs of Missions of the US and UK showcased the cultural richness of the occasion. With more than 250 attendees and over 30 participants showcasing their talents and performances, the Krishna Janmashtami celebration was a vibrant and joyous occasion. This event was organized by Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) in cooperation with the Embassy of India.

Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E Vinay Kumar said “In the mean of these activities and successes, we also have Janmashtami which birthday celebrate son of Lord Krishna. It is very fervently and great enthusiasm celebrated by all the people of India and the people of India origin and abroad. Today, it is actually to celebrate Janmashtami that is the birthday of lord Krishna. One of the very important parts we have busiest Culture center to bring the people together. We have these protect historical land culture ties between India and Myanmar. Today it is holding celebration of commerce culture. We always have to keep in mind in any program, any project and any activities that we do have to be centered on the people and how it helps ordinary people”."

Krishna Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna. It is an important festival - the celebratory customs include a celebration festival, reading and recitation of religious texts, dance and enactments of the life of Krishna, devotional singing and fasting amongst other things.

President of GOPIO Myanmar, Ravindra Jain said “Our organization started in 1989 in United States and in Myanmar, GOPIO branches has started just last year in the presence of his Excellency Vinay Kumar. India is the country of festival, celebrate lots of festivals, Krishna Janmashtami which is God Krishna birthday celebration. India and Myanmar are always Neighbors before 1947…. Be both countries always have very connect to each other’s and we are like twin countries, being always celebrate different festivals.”

Krishna Janmashtami is widely celebrated across India and abroad. Lord Krishna's birth signifies the triumph of good over evil and serves as a reminder of the path of righteousness.
