Joyful Blessing: Male baby white elephant was born in Taungup

Traditionally, the white elephants are regarded as sacred that the country is blessed with peace and prosperity.

On 23rd July, female elephant named Zar Nan Hla of age 33, gave birth a baby boy with significant characteristics of royal white elephant at the reserved forest of elephant conservation camp by Myanma Timber Enterprise in Taungup of Rakhine State.

The baby elephant has 7 out of 8 characteristics of the white elephant such as pearly eyes, banana branch-shaped back, white-colored fur, pink-coloured skin, five toenails each on the forelegs and hind-legs, wide and big ears and so on.

Among the previous 9 white elephants, the first white elephant possesses 7 characteristics and the other 8 have only 6 characteristics at most. At the age of 10 days, the baby elephant is over 2ft tall with the weight of 190 lbs. He is now healthy and happy with his loving mother.
