Jordan celebrates 75th anniversary of independence

Jordan celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence on Tuesday at Raghadan Palace in the capital Amman. King Abdullah II, Queen Rania, members from the Royal family and senior officials attended a ceremony which paid tribute to Jordan's 100-year history and highlighted various milestones from the past to the present day. Abdullah bestowed the Order of the State Centennial on 140 leading figures in appreciation of their contributions to the advancement and progress of the nation.

The ceremony also underlined Jordan's close connection to Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, a statement from the palace said.
