Japanese Emperor Naruhito marks 63rd birthday

Japanese Emperor Naruhito greeted thousands of the general public on Thursday as he turned 63.

Naruhito expressed his gratitude to the people for celebrating his birthday and offered his condolences to those who were affected by heavy snow in the winter. Around 4,800 well-wishers, who won ticket lotteries, were able to see the emperor who appeared on the palace balcony along with Empress Masako and his daughter Princess Aiko.
