Japan voted in snow-hit snap elections Sunday and opinion polls suggested that Takaichi's Liberal Democratic Party, will easily win more than the 233 seats needed to regain a majority in the powerful 465-member lower house.

In areas where heavy snow is expected, municipal governments may delay the opening of polling stations or close them earlier to ensure the safety of voters and officials. The internal affairs ministry was advising people to check the voting hours of their polling stations.
