Japan PM on 'absolutely unforgivable' blast scare

Japan's prime minister on Sunday said the security scare that led him to be evacuated to safety the previous day was "absolutely unforgivable".

He expressed his gratitude for the messages of support from Japan and around the world. Kishida was evacuated unharmed on Saturday after an explosion at a venue where he was giving an outdoor speech.

A man believed to be a suspect was arrested at the scene. It was the first time since the incident that the Japanese leader spoke to the media.Kishida stressed it was important to continue with the election campaign and also the upcoming Group of Seven events.He promised security would be tight to ensure the safety of dignitaries who are due to travel to Japan for the summits.
