
A non-partisan group of Japanese lawmakers has met with a senior official of China's Foreign Ministry in Beijing.
The official reportedly expressed expectations that the Japanese side will work to bring bilateral relations back on track. Eight junior Diet members who belong to the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union held talks with China's Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin on Monday during their visit to the Chinese capital. The group proposed the resumption of bilateral exchanges, noting that communication is important despite concerns that exist between the two countries. At a news conference on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun revealed part of what was discussed at the meeting.
