Irrigation Facility : Deputy Minister inspects Setawgyi Dam in Madaya Township

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw inspected the Setawgyi Dam in Madaya Township of Mandalay Region on December 16.

Officials from the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department reported on the dam’s condition, water storage, dam safety inspections, repair plans, and water supply for monsoon crops. They also explained plans to provide irrigation water for summer paddy and other crops for the 2025–2026 season in Mandalay, Madaya, Patheingyi, and Amarapura Townships.

The Deputy Minister instructed to carry out detailed inspections, repair canals, continue regular maintenance, and conduct continuous dam safety monitoring. He then inspected the concrete and earth dams, sluice gates and inspection gallery.

He also visited the hydropower plant and viewed the electricity generation. Additionally, he inspected a new right-bank canal project that will expand irrigation to 12,000 acres. He then visited local department offices under the ministry and meet with the staff.
