Interview on Legal Officers’ Ethics: MOLA UM UAG delivered the opening remarks

Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney General Dr. Thida Oo inspected the ongoing interviews and discussions on legal officers’ ethics being conducted at the Legal Knowledge Dissemination Training School under the Ministry of Legal Affairs.

The Union Minister and Union Attorney General stated that the Ministry of Legal Affairs issued the Code of Ethics for Legal Officers in 2017 with the aim of ensuring that legal officers possess integrity and ethical standards and become trustworthy public servants relied upon by the people.

The code also aims to promote a fair, just, and impartial judicial system, uphold the rule of law and protect public interests in accordance with the law, and develop highly qualified legal officers with accountability and responsibility.

She explained that the Legal Officers’ Ethics Interview Program involves ethics supervisory committees conducting individual interviews with legal officers regarding matters related to the code of ethics. She urged legal officers to thoroughly understand the code of ethics and apply it as a practical guide in their work so as to strengthen public trust and confidence in them.

Afterwards, the Union Minister and Union Attorney General observed the ethics interviews being conducted by the Legal Officers’ Ethics Supervisory Committees and provided necessary guidance and instructions.

The legal officers from region and state Advocate General offices, district legal offices, and township legal offices under the Ministry of Legal Affairs will continue to undergo interviews in accordance with the prescribed Legal Officers’ Ethics Interview Program conducted by the respective supervisory committees, it’s reported.
