The international experimental nuclear fusion reactor Iter (the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, Eds.), which aims to revolutionize energy production, will be delayed by at least eight years, according to its Director General.

The date for the first production of plasma, essential for fusion, originally scheduled for 2025, has been postponed to at least 2033, he added. During a board meeting at the end of June, the partner member countries - China, South Korea, United States, India, Japan, European Union and Russia - accepted the continuation of the project according to this new schedule.
