






Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, accompanied by officials, inspected the progress of the upgrading and construction works at Nawarat Sports Ground in Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region, on January 13.
First, the Union Minister arrived at Nawarat Sports Ground in Shwepyitha Township and inspected the construction status of the remaining 50 percent of works for the upgraded indoor sports hall (Category A), of which 90 percent has been completed, and provided necessary guidance and instructions.
Subsequently, the Union Minister and officials proceeded to Myathida Sports Ground in South Okkalapa Township, where they inspected the progress of the football field upgrading works, the construction of a indoor stadium measuring 200 feet in length and 150 feet in width with a seating capacity of 2,000, the construction of Myathida football field and the phased completion status of the Myathida indoor stadium (200 feet × 150 feet).
Necessary guidance and instructions were also given during the inspection. Afterwards, the Union Minister and officials visited the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, where they observed and encouraged athletes from various sports disciplines who are training to compete in the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
He urged the athletes to pay special attention to their health, to compete in the competition with unwavering determination and strong spirit in accordance with their training, and to strive to the fullest extent to achieve the expected successes and bring honor to the nation, it is reported.
