Inspection of Restoration Works: MORA UM inspected restoration works of Buddha images

Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, in Monday, inspected the damage to ancient Buddha images in the old Mekkaya city area and the Paleik region of Sintgaing Township, Mandalay Region, which were affected by the Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025.

During the inspection tour, officials including the Director and responsible personnel from the Mandalay branch of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum explained the ongoing restoration work being carried out by the department. In response to the presentations, the Union Minister instructed that the restoration work should ensure resistance up to level-8 earthquake impact, be carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and prioritize the preservation and protection of ancient cultural heritage without causing damage, it’s reported.
