The Pyi (Pyay) Oil Field in Bago Region to observe and support the ongoing natural gas testing and production activities through research on January 6.

At the briefing, the General Manager of the Pyi Oil Field explained the status of research activities being conducted to increase oil and natural gas production in the Pyi and Pantaung areas.

The presentation covered the situation regarding the re-emergence of natural gas after research, investigation, and drilling into the sand layers of Well No. 48, as well as future operational plans to further enhance oil and natural gas production. The Director-General supplemented the presentation with necessary details. Following that, collaborating domestic private entrepreneurs explained the future operational plans to increase oil and natural gas production using technologies in the Pyi, Myanaung, and Shwepyitha oil fields.

In response to the presentations, the Union Minister noted that the Pyi Oil Field area, discovered in 1964, is a traditional oil field with good potential and a valuable site that produces both oil and natural gas. However, its production has been nearly halted for over a decade.

He mentioned that after researching and investigating the sand layers of Well No. 48 in the current Pyi Oil Field, natural gas production has been successfully increased and is being supplied into the pipeline to Yangon. If natural gas production continues to improve, efforts are underway to separately supply natural gas to factories in the Pyi and Shwedaung areas.

He also acknowledged and praised the staff members who contributed to increasing natural gas production and encouraged them to strive further. He stated that exploration and drilling operations will utilize advanced technologies used internationally, providing staff with opportunities for practical learning.

He emphasized that staff members should make good use of the opportunities available to them and carry out their work with pride and value. Afterwards, the Union Minister inspected staff housing and attended to the necessary needs of the staff regarding their living conditions, education, and health-related matters, it’s reported.
