India and Sri Lanka discuss deeper energy cooperation in New Delhi

Indian Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Sri Lankan Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake held high-level talks in New Delhi on Saturday to review and deepen bilateral cooperation in the power and energy sectors.

Both sides affirmed to progress on the proposed High Voltage Direct Current power grid link between the two nations to enable direct electricity trade. Focus also included on cross-border electricity grid interconnections, renewable energy projects, and regional energy security.
