India’s EAM Jaishankar meets Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Saturday met with Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Port of Spain to strengthen bilateral ties. In the high-level talks, two sides focused on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, health, and technology, with Trinidad and Tobago adopting India's Unified Payment Interface (UPI) payment platform.

It was learned that Trinidad and Tobago became the first Caribbean nation to agree to launch India's UPI, facilitating seamless payments. Jaishankar’s visit marked a significant step in deepening India's engagement with the Caribbean region, focusing on shared democratic values and economic development.
