Illicit trade: Illegal timbers, electronics and vehicles seized

An action is being taken against illicit trades under the law managed by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 5 April, the port on-duty inspection team under the management of the Customs Department seized electronics imported in violation of import licences at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station. 

On 6 April, the combined inspection team led by the Forest Department under the management of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized illegal teak in Mohnyin and Bhamo Districts.

On 6 April, the inspection team led by the Police Force under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized two unregistered motorbikes and an unregistered vehicle in Salingyi and Kalay townships.

On 7 April, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department seized illegal teak. Similarly, the inspection team led by the Forest Department under the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized illegal timbers in Bago and Okpo (Setthwa forest reserve) Townships.

A combined inspection team led by the Forest Department under the management of the Rakhine State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized illegal timber in Pauktaw Township of Sittway District. The action were taken against the perpetrators under the relevant Laws.

Therefore, 16 arrests (estimated value of 108.382 million Kyats) were made on 5, 6 and 7 April, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
