Police from Italy's elite Carabinieri art squad revealed Monday a treasure trove of almost 800 archeological items recently discovered in an antique shop in Belgium.

A Belgian collector became the focus of the investigation after displaying the treasures at exhibitions in Paris and Geneva. Their value is put at 11 million euros. Italian police and prosecutors worked closely with the Belgian authorities and Eurojust, a European cross-border crime fighting organization that works with police and judicial systems across the continent. According to a Eurojust statement, the artifacts and pottery pieces date back to 600 B.C and they were illegally dug up in Puglia.
