Illegal trades: Over 61 million worth illegal trade items seized

The efforts are being made to take action against illegal trades under the law under the supervision of Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 21 March, 3.5544 tons of illegal timber in Taungup Township, the construction materials that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at Myanmar International Port (Thilawa) Container Checkpoint, consumer goods that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Myanmar Port Container Inspection station, on 23 March, detergent powder packages mixed with the products declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a vehicle driven from Myawady to Yangon at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, illegal timber in Sedoktara Township, Minbu District, 7,000 gallons of refined diesel oil on the Pakkoku-Yesagyo Road in Yesagyo Township, on 24 March, illegal timber in Thonze Forest Reserve in Thayawady District, Bago Region, illegal timbers along with the three vehicles in Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region were seized.

Therefore, a total of 14 arrests (estimated value of 61.127 million Kyats) were made on 21, 23 and 24 March, the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee stated.
