Illegal trades: Illegal timbers, food items, consumer goods, vehicles seized

The action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the country under the supervision of Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 18 March, the illegal cooking gas cylinders were seized at the Minlwinkon checkpoint in Hlegu Township, Yangon, a six-wheel truck carrying 8.742 tonnes of illegal timbers near Milestone (18/5) on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway in Hlegu Township, on 20 March fruits in excess of the import declaration (ID) from two vehicles driven from Myawady to Mandalay at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint, a 10-wheel truck carrying illegal food items at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint in Kayin State, on 21 March, illegal timbers in the Myautzarmari forest reserve in Thayawady District in Bago Region were seized.

Therefore, on 18, 20 and 21 March, a total of nine arrests was made (estimated value of over 94.012 million Kyats), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
