Illegal Trade: Timbers, Restricted Chemical, Vehicles Confiscated

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

On 7 August, an on-duty team confiscated illegal timbers from a Hino Ranger  car heading from Mandalay to Muse Township at the 16th-mile Kyaukchaw  Checkpoint. Similarly, an on-duty team captured industrial machines that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) at the Hteedan  Container Checkpoint in Yangon Region under the management of the Customs Procedures.

On 8 August, an on-duty combined inspection team confiscated a total of 1,950 kilogrammes of a restricted chemical – Ammonium Nitrate from a Nissan Diesel 12-wheel truck heading from Mandalay to Mohnyin  Township at the Nantseeaung  combined checkpoint.

Similarly, a team led by the Forest Department and Myanmar Police Force seized illegal timbers in the Chaungtha  forest reserve, Pyapon  Township and Pathein Township. In addition, a team led by the Myanmar Police Force captured an unregistered Honda CRV car in Pyapon  Township. Afterwards, illegal timbers from a wooden motorboat and related things were confiscated in the Chaunghnapwa  Creek in Kyunsu  township of Myeik district.

On 9 August, illegal ironwood was seized in the Kyaukmasin  forest reserve of Yedashe township of Toungoo district.

Therefore, 10 arrests estimated at 349.026 million Kyats were made on three consecutive days from 7 to 9 August, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
