Illegal trade: Illegal timbers, consumer goods and vehicles seized

The action is being taken supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee under the law against illicit trades.

On 17 and 18 April, inspection teams led by the Rakhine State Department of Forest seized illegal timbers in Taungup Township and Gwa Township in Rakhine State. On 17 April, a combined inspection team led by the Customs team on duty at the Myanmar International Port (Thilawa) seized undocumented cosmetics  under the Customs Law.

On 18 April, a vehicle carrying illegal teak was arrested at the Milestone (0/3) on Kyaukain village road, in Hlegu Township, Yangon North District by inspection teams led by the Department of Forest. In addition, a variety of photo albums and weaving materials on 19 April and clothes and home appliances on 20 April, which were not declared in the import declaration form were seized at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint.

On 21 April, illegal teak were seized in Bago District and Toungoo District in Bago Region, and action was taken under the Forest Law. Therefore, 12 arrests (approximately over 115 million Kyats) were made from 17 to 21 April, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
