Illegal trade: Illegal teak, foodstuff, vehicles seized

The effective action is being taken under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.

A combined team led by Insein Township Forest Department seized illegal teak and one Mitsubishi Canter Box truck carrying the timber near the airport traffic light, Yangon-Pyay Road, Yangon North District on 21 April.

Similarly, the Bago Township Customs Department seized one undocumented food and one Foton View Mini Bus between Nyaungkhashe and DaikU, Bago Region on 22 April.

Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the military and the Myanmar Police Force seized engine oil, edible oil, food and consumer goods and five vehicles carrying such items.  

In addition, a combined inspection team on duty confiscated unlicensed foodstuffs and other items mixed with the luggage and clothing at the Mayangchaung Permanent Checkpoint conducted inspections under the management of the Customs Department on 23 April.

Similarly, combined inspection teams led by Bago Region Forest Department seized illegal teak and hardwood in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts.

Therefore, a total of 21 arrests (approximately at 215.79 million Kyats) were made on four consecutive days, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
