Illegal Trade Eradication: K183 million worth of smuggled goods confiscated

Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, measures are being undertaken to combat effectively the illegal trades in line with the law.

Assorted illegal timbers, food stuffs, personal goods and unlicensed vehicles and motorcycles were seized by Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special unit, the Custom Department and the combined teams of Bago and Sagaing Regions Illegal Trade Eradication units while inspecting at Myanmar port container inspection camp, near 21-mile on Mandalay-Lashio Union Highway, at Mayan Chaung inspection gate and Yay Pu Inspection gate of Shan State.

So far, illegal goods estimated worth of 183 million kyats from a total of 16 cases were confiscated on 7th, 9th and 10th February.
