Hydropower Project: Union Minister inspects Upper Kyaingtaung hydropower plant

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo made an inspection in Shan State. The Union Minister inspected construction of the Upper Kyaingtaung Hydropower Plant 14 miles southwest of Kyaingtaung Township.

During the inspection, first, the Union Minister heard reports on the Kyaingtaung Hydropower project and construction process. In his response, the Union Minister highlighted that electricity plays an important role for the country’s development.

He called for efforts for more electricity generation, electricity bill collection, projects completion in a timely manner and quality construction and work safety.

The Union Minister also inspected the plant construction process and gave necessary instructions. Construction of this Upper Kyaingtaung Hydropower Plant has now been 71.63 percent completed.
