Union Minister for Electricity and Energy, U Ko Ko Lwin, delivered instructions regarding electricity generation, transmission, and distribution for the monsoon season during a coordination held Tuesday afternoon at Office No. 27 of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, the Union Minister stated that hydropower and natural gas power plants are currently utilized to meet the country's base load within the national Power Generation Mix. He noted that because some hydropower plants and main power lines have been destroyed, the ministry has had to rely more heavily on natural gas for power generation, especially during the current period of high temperatures and low water levels in reservoirs.

As the monsoon season approaches, the Minister emphasized that functional hydropower plants must be operated at full capacity to maximize power output. Therefore, all necessary maintenance and preparations must be carried out in advance. Following the opening remarks, the Union Minister coordinated and addressed the needs presented in the discussions by the Deputy Minister and other department officials, it’s reported.
