Hotels and Tourism Sector : MoHT UM met with hotels and tourism-related persons

Efforts are being made to systematically develop and advance the tourism industry in the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions, and States.

Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, together with the Kachin State Chief Minister met with the responsible persons from hotel and tourism-related associations within Kachin State, as well as hotel and accommodation business owners, at the State Hall in Myitkyina.

The meeting was attended by members of the Kachin State Ministers, officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, and relevant state department heads. During the meeting, the Union Minister stated that the Government had reconstituted the National Tourism Development Central Committee on September 23, 2025, in accordance with the Myanmar Tourism Law.

He mentioned that plans are underway to form tourism committees and various levels of regional tourism committees. Similarly, regional management teams at the district and township levels will also be formed, involving relevant departments, business owners, and local residents, to be structured and operated in a way that suits the current situation.

He also emphasized that Kachin State is rich in natural beauty and traditional cultural heritage, with many attractions and tourist destinations that appeal to both domestic and international tourists due to its diverse ethnic groups. Therefore, these resources should be utilized to develop the tourism industry.

The State Chief Minister said that the hotel and accommodation businesses, as well as tour operations within Kachin State, are improving year by year. The State Government will provide the necessary support for the development of the tourism industry and urged business owners to collaborate and cooperate closely.

Afterwards, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism responded to and discussed the requests presented by the attending business owners. The Union Minister and the State Chief Minister then coordinated and addressed the necessary matters, following which the Union Minister delivered concluding remarks, it’s learnt.
