Eligible voters from 17 townships in Yangon Region are casting their votes at respective polling stations for the third phase of the multi-party democracy general election, starting 6:00 am in the morning on Sunday.

Polling Station Officers provide necessary arrangements for the smooth voting process. Eligible voters including the first time voters cast their votes to elect the favourite candidate who can serve for better future of the nation.

In Yankin Township, six candidates from five political parties and an Independent Candidate is contesting for the Pyithu Hluttaw Seat. At the Polling Station No.1 of Ward (14), over 2,000 voters are eligible for casting votes. [Soundbite] The election is being conducted under a dual electoral system.

The Pyithu Hluttaw continues to use the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system, while the Amyotha Hluttaw and Region/State Hluttaws are using a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system.
