High Level Coordination: Meeting between MSWRR and ASEAN Secretary-General Office

Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement [MSWRR] and the ASEAN Secretary-General Office held their 4th High Level coordination meeting on Friday.
This meeting began with opening remarks by the Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khaing and ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi who served as co-chairs. In her opening remarks, the Union Minister thanked the ASEAN Secretary General for his cooperation on the peace and development in Rakhine State.
Although there were obstacles in socio-economic development activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Myanmar continues to implement the recommendations of the initial needs analysis study. Relevant Ministries are coordinating the preparation of proposed projects in cooperation with the ASEAN Ad-hoc Support Team, she added.
Also, ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi said that ASEAN will continue to cooperate on development and harmonious co-existence in Rakhine State.
This meeting approved 5 projects proposed by ministries and departments. The meeting also discussed the implemented projects according to the Preliminary Needs Assessment (PNA), ongoing projects and progress status according to priority projects.
The two sides also exchanged views on new areas and priority projects in cooperation with the ASEAN for the development of Rakhine State.
The Union Minister also informed and discussed the situation of forming committees for the development of Rakhine State and repatriation programme and also the situation of Myanmar-Bangladesh cooperation.
