Health Sector: Traditional Medicine Research Congress & Health Facilities

The 11thTraditional Medicine Research Congress was held at Mandalay Traditional Medicine University on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Health Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win gave an opening speech, saying that research on traditional medicines needed to be accelerated while standardizing the quality, safety and efficacy of the traditional medicines.

He stressed that efforts have to be made to keep abreast with the world nations including ASEAN member states through sharing knowledge. A total of 22 research papers, and 6 posters will be read out during the session. 

The best research papers on traditional medicine, science, health system and poster will be selected for awarding the prizes.

The Union Minister and party later attended the opening ceremony of Recreation Centre at the University of Medicine (Mandalay). After formal opening of the ceremony, the Union Minister made a speech, and urged officials to promote research works and international cooperation. The Union Minister later attended the opening ceremony of new 6-storey building at Nursing University (Mandalay), and made a speech.
