





The Goteik Viaduct in Nawngcho Township of northern Shan State, a famous historical railway bridge, has been successfully repaired by Myanma Railways engineers. Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, together with Deputy Minister U Aung Myaing, and officials from the Myanma Railways, inspected the repaired bridge.
During their trip, they also visited concrete sleeper factory, post offices, communication offices, and weather stations as well as railway station in Hsipaw and Kyaukme, giving guidance and support to staff. On arrival at the Goteik Station, the Union Minister and party observed test train runs across the repaired bridge.
The Goteik Viaduct was damaged by explosions set by armed insurgent groups on August 24, 2025, but it has now been restored to its original design within 76 days, using steel parts made in Yangon. Officials who worked on the bridge repair were honored and rewarded for their efforts. Passenger sightseeing trains between Pyin Oo Lwin and Goteik Station are expected to resume service soon.
