German minister: energy imports to be paid in euro

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said after meeting French counterpart Bruno Le Maire in Berlin that energy imports from Russia would continue to be paid in Euro.

The French and German finance ministers wouldn't comment in detail on Russia's demand that gas buyers open accounts at Gazprombank. Gazprombank is not currently under EU sanctions but is under restrictions from the U.S. affecting debt and equity operations.
