



The African nations of Gabon and Togo have been admitted into the Commonwealth group of nations on Saturday. The admission of the two new members was a highlight of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022 summit closing conference in Rwanda.
Baroness Patricia Scotland, Commonwealth Secretary General said "we welcome both Gabon and Togo in the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood and a determination that we need a safer and better world and we're better together than we ever will be apart."
Gabon and Togo are Francophone countries that have actively tried to join the bloc of 54 nations. The meeting also aimed to push country members to unite further in order to combat climate change.
