G20 Leaders Summit welcomes African Union as permanent member

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announce that the G20 has agreed and welcomed the African Union as a permanent member of the G20. PM Modi made the announcement while addressing the inaugural session of the 18th G20 Summit.

Modi also extends his condolences and support to Morocco and the earthquake victims. Earlier, Modi welcomed all the world leaders at Bharat Mandapam, including President Joe Biden, UK PM Rishi Sunak, President Erdogan, Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman Prince Salman, and Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong.

A G20 Leaders’ Declaration will be adopted at the conclusion of the G20 Summit, stating the leaders’ commitment to the priorities discussed and agreed upon during the respective ministerial and working group meetings.
