Full Moon Day Thadingyut: Performing good deeds and enjoying holidays

Being a day of religious significance for Buddhists, the pagodas and temples across Myanmar has seen crowd of pilgrims, taking Sabbath, practicing meditation, reciting Parittas, paying obeisance to the elder persons, performing good deeds on the Full Moon Day Thadingyut or Abhidhamma Day.

In the morning, pilgrims were crowded at the prominent pagodas and temples Maravijaya Buddha Image, the World tallest marble curving Buddha Image and Uppatasandhi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

Likewise, Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon Region and Maha Myat Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay Region were crowded with pilgrims, offering oil lamps and paying homage.

In addition, people keep on preserving the tradition of paying obeisance to the elder persons, and charity feast while entertaining cultural performances. Moreover, the Buddhists across the country, observed the precepts, taking the Paritta Suttas and Dhamm sermon from the members of Sangha, offered the donation items, practiced meditation on the full moon day of Thadingyut (the Abhidhamma Day), it’s reported.
