French migrants living in Buenos Aires and Santiago cast their vote on Saturday, one day ahead of the general elections in France. Lyceums and the French Embassies at the capitals were some of the facilities used as voting centers.

French officials estimated that between 15 to 20 thousand French citizens live in Argentina, nearly 10,000 are eligible to cast their vote and nearly 9,500 have enrolled to vote from Chile.

The French Ambassador to Chile explained that the first round is scheduled for Sunday and French migrants living in the Americas cast their votes one day before to avoid delaying the results.

France's first round of the presidential election takes place on 10th April with a presidential runoff on 24th April if no candidate wins outright.
