Food Safety and Quality Training : Training focused on food safety and quality control

During the Government’s first 100-day period, supported by the Yangon Region Government, collaborated by Yangon City Development Committee and the Directorate of Hotel and Tourism, “the Food Safety and Services Quality Enhancement Training is giving to the owners of restaurants, Bars, BBQ shops, Tea shops and street-food vendors from five Townships in this fiscal year at the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality in Pebedan Township, Yangon Region.

The training was conducted four times last 2025-2026 fiscal year to those from four Townships. Approximately, 50 trainees are given in a batch of training and 250 individuals would have received training after 5 batches of training.

U Nanda Aung (Director), Directorate of Hotel and Tourism (Yangon) said " The training is aimed at enhancement of food quality, food safety, development of tourism sector, to be resulted in increase of job opportunities, individual income enhancement and economic development of the country at large."

Everyone intakes food daily for the nutrition. Sometimes, the nutrition is inadequate due to the poor preparations during the food processing, pointed out, Instructor of the training.

Kaisar, Training Instruction said " During the training, my teaching will focused on three things which is essential for the food services including from hotel to street vendors. Those are the Wants, Needs and Expectations of the customers. I want the trainees to know those things to build trust between them and their customers."

Generally, the restaurants and shops in Yangon, take the great care for the Hygiene, quality and taste of foods.

Thae Su Hlaing, In Charge of Food Quality Control said " My duty is to inspect the Hygiene of foods, quality of raw materials, arrangements of storing food-related materials, generally, cleanliness and tidiness sector. We are greatly careful for the right ingredients of the food, taste and quality of raw materials."

The training is given prioritizing Townships where the night markets and street vendors bustled, such as Lammadaw, Thingangyun, Dala, Mayangone and Tamwe Townships, it’s learnt.
