Flight information boards at Bali’s international airport showed numerous cancelled and delayed flights following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on March 20.

The 1,703-meter twin-peaked volcano, located on the tourist island of Flores, erupted for 11 minutes, sending dark ash eight kilometres into the sky. Authorities raised the volcano's alert status to the highest level in response. The eruption caused disruptions to air travel, affecting several flights in and out of Bali.

Leah Stephens, Australian tourist said "We've been delayed, we're meant to be flying out at quarter to eight tonight, but we'll see because it's not on the board yet. So, I'd say it's going to be delayed further. We're probably lucky because a lot of flights were cancelled, but with our particular airline they're apparently still flying them out."

Despite the inconvenience, passengers acknowledged the importance of safety. No immediate reports of casualties emerged from the eruption.
