Final Competition and Prize Awarding : MOI UM awarded trophy to championship ox-cart

The championship round and prize award ceremony for the traditional decorated ox-cart competition, held in honor of the Tatkone Township-wide Maha Kathina Ceremony, took place at the City Sports Ground in Nay Pyi Taw, on November 3.

The award ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Committee for Development of Resilient and Progressive Communities, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo and Council members, relevant department officials, competition participants, and local residents.

First, the final day's championship round of the Traditional decorated Ox-Cart Competition and Cattle Beauty Contest was held. Thapyaychaung decorated Ox-Cart won the first place, Shwesethar  decorated Ox-Cart won the second place, Nyaung Ngapin  (U Shit Kone ) decorated Ox-Cart won the third place, and Kyar Nyi Naung -2 decorated Ox-Cart won a consolation prize.

Subsequently, the prize award ceremony was held. The consolation prize winner, Kyar Nyi Naung-2 ox-cart, was presented with a certificate of honor and one million Kyat cash prize. The third prize winner, Nyaung Ngapin (U Shet Kone) decorated ox-cart, the second prize winner, Shwesaryar ox-cart and the first prize winner, Thapyaychaung ox-cart were presented with the certificates of honor and cash prizes of 3 million Kyats, 4 million Kyats and 5 million Kyats, respectively.

The championship flag and trophy were presented by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn. The remaining participating ox-carts were each presented with a certificate of honor and 50,000 Kyat. The Traditional decorated Ox-Cart Competition and Cattle Beauty Contest was held from November 1st to 3rd, with 28 ox-carts participating in the competition.

The Traditional decorated Ox-Cart competition was first included in the 54th Tatkone Township-wide Maha Kathina Ceremony held in 2024, and this year marks the second time it has been included. It is known that the traditional Myanmar decorated ox-cart has been used since the Bagan period and was utilized in donation ceremonies, royal ceremonies, and ceremonial ploughing festivals.
