FIFA president speaks ahead of World Cup opening match

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said he is thrilled that the event that "makes people dream" is just a few hours away. He was referring to the men's soccer World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday. This year is the tournament's biggest version ever, with 48 teams taking part.

Infantino spoke to reporters on Wednesday at Mexico City Stadium, the venue of the opening match. He added that he is "very happy" that the Iranian team is able to take part despite the conflict with the US. Infantino said he hopes there will be a "positive atmosphere" when the Iranian team plays.
