Expansion Of Sunflower Cultivation: Research Works To Be Carried Out For Quality Seed

Plans are underway to conduct research works for quality seed production in order to expand the cultivation of 1.5 million sunflower so as to significantly improve oil production within one or two cultivation seasons.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Thut Oo said at the briefing on the status of sunflower seed breeding for the expansion of sunflower crop cultivation held at the Agricultural Research Farm in Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone Township on 27th July.
In order to be able to successfully carry out the tasks, he called for implementation of a contract farming system between farmers and private entrepreneurs.
