Negotiators from the European Parliament and EU member states have reached a provisional agreement on Wednesday to reduce air pollution in the European Union, with a goal of eliminating it by 2050.

New upper limits for particulate matter, Nitrogen Dioxide and Sulfur Dioxide and among other pollutants were agreed upon, according to the parliament. The new rules will come into effect after formal adoption by the Council and the European Parliament would establish stricter air quality standards with comparable rates in all 27 member nations of the bloc.
